Overview
Vertex is a visionary research biotech that stands apart from their pharmaceutical counterparts. The small but mighty company was able to find a cure for cystic fibrosis – a disease area many others had sworn was “impossible” to cure.
Challenge: Vertex was struggling to stand out from its competitors to recruit the next generation of talent.
The Idea: What if we tapped into our audience’s love of true crime and positioned Vertex as the ultimate cold case detectives? We sought out to create a two-part documentary (AKA the ultimate true crime medium) to show Vertex’s tireless investigation and their methodology of Starting At Impossible.

Our two-part documentary allowed prospective talent and investors to get an in-depth look at Vertex’s labs, research and unique approach to tackling the world’s most challenging diseases.
Reflection: I’ll be honest, the prospective of writing a two-part documentary was intimidating, but I knew it was a challenge I had to take on. Vertex is a company that isn’t afraid to take on seemingly impossible challenges, like curing cystic fibrosis or type 1 diabetes, so I knew we had to do something that was just as big and bold as they were.
Through this project, I learned the importance of having attention-to-detail and the power of having a crew with a shared vision.
